The Sunboo project started in August 2012 with the desire to create a concept which mixes innovative style with the traditionalism of nature. When creating Sunboo the designers were inspired by five elements which had to be the soul of the project and the basis for the creation: material, lightness, prestige, passion and fashion freshness.

Thinking about these dimensions the “credo” of Sunboo was born.

More Prestigious than an Oscar Award,

More Fashionable Than the Mona Lisa Smile,

More Passionate than a Marilyn Monroe kiss.

We love this time of year at O-Concept Store. The weather has changed for the better and we host our annual “winter collections” show at our store in Dubai.

We will also be providing a demonstration of thermo nail varnish by Princess Accessories.  This is a temperature affected nail varnish that changes colour dependant on the body temperature of the person wearing it! We hope to have real fun with this.

The event is taking place on the 13th November 2013 at our store in Jumeirah 1, Dubai from 7pm till midnight.

Saray Couture Arrives at O-Concept Store Dubai

This week we are delighted to announce the arrival of Saray Couture to O-Concept Store.

Unique, stylish, handmade accessories and turbans for all ages influenced by eastern and western fashion is the simplest way to explain the Saray brand.  The name “Saray” unites both the names of the founders Sara and Aytan and it also means castle in Azerbaijani, which is their native language. The brand is based in Dubai however products are sold in several shops in Dubai, online and will be coming soon to Azerbaijan.

The influence

Saray represents the origin of the founders who come from Azerbaijan (the cusp of Europe and Asia) the concept being to unite Western and Eastern fashion with an appeal to target different geographical locations.  Influences for Saray come from Arabia’s rich heritage and western vintage style. The founders of Saray always admired how gracious and sophisticated the turbans looked on the great people who have worn, and still wear them, such as Sheikha Mozah HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned of Qatar, Elizabeth Tailor and Barbara Streisand.

Since fashion is an endless cycle that keeps on coming back and forth Saray create their products with influences taken from both old and modern fashions. Turbans were, are, and always will be fashionable, and accessories are necessary to complete any look.  Saray’s accessories reflect the girls imaginations and each piece is uniquely hand crafted by the design duo.

The brand started as a part-time hobby, and the ethos was to match colours and make unique, beautiful accessories. These accessories were designed to accentuate rather than overpower an individual wearers outfit.  Following on from their success with accessories the girls expanded their range to include turbans. The turbans are designed to cater to a plethora of tastes and Saray has innovated various colors and textiles in turban couture which makes them stand out.  Furthermore Saray’s logo symbolizes the meaning of the names of the founders, Aytan’s name means crescent in Azeri and Sara means princess, for this reason their logo expresses a crescent wearing a crown.

About the Sisters

Sara has always been known as the glamorous socialite in Azerbaijan and she was born on the 29^th April 1988. She has a degree in international relations from the Western University of Azerbaijan.  She loves shopping, travelling, cooking and has a great eye for detail and impeccable style which compelled her to pursue her own fashion label with her younger sister.  Her plan is to diversify her flourishing brand, taking it to new heights.

Aytan is a fashion forward stylista born on the 22^nd August 1990.  Azerbaijani by origin, but raised in Dubai, she has a multicultural background which drove her interest in learning various foreign languages. Her hobbies include writing poems, drawing, painting, travelling and reading books.   Aytan is also a graduate of Herriot Watt University, where she studied business.  Following her graduation she decided to follow her passion for fashion and establish a fashion label with her elder sister. Aytans signature pieces reflect femininity and glamour.

The newly established fashion brand, Lady Jean, was conceptualized in the UAE by fashion aficionado Diana and Rana Ibrahim. Named after her daughter, Julie Jean, the brand offers women a unique collection of chic feminine styles that are luxurious and wearable to any occasion.

Lady Jean represents the ultimate woman who adores dressing with simplicity and class, while keeping in line with fashion trends. The brand comprises a niche collection of streamlined pencil skirts and dresses with a fresh appealing look for the sophisticated, contemporary woman.

The Lady Jean 2013 collection focuses mainly on pencil skirts and dresses that are distinctive, elegant, and feminine. Drawing inspiration from olden day movies, the collection offers outfits with a twist by merging punchy Arabic prints, bold block colours and interesting textures such as embroidery, sequins and lace, with a pencil bottom concept.

Diana Ibrahim – Co-Founder and Designer – Lady Jean

Diana Ibrahim is a young, dynamic fashion designer, immersed in the world of fashion. She has lived in Dubai for 11 years, and although she graduated from the American University of Sharjah with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Diana is a keen observer of sophisticated feminine apparel.

With sound awareness of fashion trends and an eye for unique designs and detail, Diana has always been appreciated by family and friends for her chic style and choice of clothing.

After working in the financial sector for a couple of years, Diana eventually realised that her dream is to create a name for herself in the fashion industry. If you’re like most parents, it is not always easy to know how to prepare a school lunch that will be healthy, tasty, inexpensive, easy to prepare, and will not be wasted.

O-Concept Advice for Healthy Kids

I recommend that children eat fruits, vegetables and lean protein such as chicken, turkey or beans in their school lunch.

Choose foods natural and / or organic whenever possible, especially when picking fresh fruits and vegetables. There are so many natural snacks convenient nowadays, from pre-packaged baby carrots and dip crackers with natural cheese, which is easy to pack a healthy lunch that does not take a lot of time to prepare.

Use whole wheat bread, it is more nutritional and lower processed. Remove soft drinks and fruit juices. The drink has no nutritional value. And the juice, also juice 100% natural, they can be high in sugar and calories. Water and milk are the best choices. But if your kids really want the juice, try alternating between water and fruit juices, or giving them a choice of juice or dessert.

Keep it simple. Most young kids prefer plain foods. Do not add spicy or peppery: could be dangerous for their health! And be caution with salt as well.

Let your kids taste the real flavor of ingredients. A moderate seasoning or dressing should be use just to enrich the ingredient’s natural flavor and not to cover it.

Packaging of small amounts of a variety of foods in separate containers. This is not only more visually appealing to kids, it keeps food has always been soaked and can be a great way to get kids to try new foods.

HEALTHLY RECOMMENDATIONS:

• Eliminating canned vegetables, using only fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits
• Steamed fresh/frozen vegetables, rather than boiling vegetables, preserving more nutrients
• Transitioning toward brown and multigrain breads, pastas, and rice

 

HEALTH AND EASY-TO-MADE RECIPE: SMOKED TUNA SANDWICH

Ingredients:

–   Two slices of bread

–   50 g of thin-sliced Smoked Tuna

–   ½ lemon juice

–   1 red mature tomato

–   Labneh cheese

–   Extra virgin olive oil

–   Oregano, salt

Directions:

Spread the tuna on a plate and dress with lemon juice. Let rest in refrigerator for ten minutes.
Wash the tomatoes, cut into fairly thin slices and dress with salt and a drizzle of olive oil.
Mix with a fork the labneh cheese with some oregano and then spread it on the bread.

Add tuna and tomato slices.
Close the sandwich and enjoy it. If you prefer, you can also heat it up quickly on the hotplate.

O-Concept Store Dubai Announces Eid Dress Competition Winner

We had a great response to our Eid dress competition and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter.  The management team at O-Concept Store sifted through all the entries and we decided the best way to pick a winner was to put all the entrants into a hat and pick one at random.

Having undertaken this process the lucky person to be chosen was Cathy Rodrigues and we would like to congratulate her at this time.  Your dress will be available to collect at O-Concept this week and we will email you with collection details.

This is the first of a series of competitions we will be running at O-Concept Store so if you did not win, better luck next time.

Ramadan Pop Up Store Event at O-Concept Store Dubai

Ramadan Pop up Store at O-Concept Store, Dubai.

O-Concept Store annually holds a Ramadan “Pop up Store” for designers looking to present their collections to the Dubai public.  This event focuses on up and coming designers from the United Arab Emirates plus international designers looking to get a foothold in the region.

We have traditionally had a great response from the buying public, and from designers wanting to take part, and this year will hopefully be the biggest event to date.

A number of established designers, and some excellent young designers, have already signed up for the event.  The pop up store will comprise a ladies fashion section, a men’s fashion section and an art section.  One of our regular designers, Maria Iqbal,  has confirmed that she will be taking part and will be customising bags at the event as part of our art corner.

We are also delighted to announce that Italian designer Fabrizio Giannone will be displaying his jewellery line during the pop up store. Fabrizio has an established jewellery business in Brazil, and his company produces 18,000 pieces a month.

The event will commence on the 27th July 2013 and will run until the 29th July 2013, and will open at 8pm each evening.

Whilst we are happy with the numbers of designers wanting to take place we still have places available for any other designers or artists who would like to expose their work to the Dubai public for the first time.
